The Steelcase 462 Leap V2 office chair has been the Steelcase flagship chair since being updated from the V1 version in 2007, and is still being made new today. Featuring all current ergonomic adjustments and over-the-top build quality, the Steelcase 462 Leap V2 chair has proven itself as a time tested workhorse, and is still considered by many (us included) to be one of the best built office chairs ever made.

Crandall Office Furniture has been the industry leader in remanufacturing office chairs since 2002. Every chair we sell is completely torn down and remanufactured from the ground up in Greenville, Michigan.
We do our absolute best to make sure every chair is as close to new as possible. The only place you may see some variation is in the plastic surfaces – we have no way to resurfacing plastic, so some minor scrapes and dings on plastic pieces are to be expected – we remove anything that has large damage from inventory and use them as parts chairs
We go through all of the working components of every chair, then put it back together with new casters, new gas cylinder, new arm pads, new foam seat pad, new fabric (always removing the old fabric, chair back pads are sterilized with high temperature steam), and we stand behind each of our V2 Leap chairs with a 12 year warranty.
Be careful of terms like used, refurbished, or open box without doing your research. We’ve outlined our process in detail to make sure you know what to expect. The frame color on the Steelcase V2 Leap chair is used to describe the color of the primary plastic components on the chair (the base, back frame, back plastic, etc…) The Steelcase V2 Leap Chair comes in 4 Unique Frame Colors:

We’re excited to announce that we are now offering a brand new seat pad on all of our Steelcase Leap Chairs.
Our new seat pad is made of high density molded foam, identical to the Steelcase OEM seat pads (including the contoured shape of the original), except we’ve chosen to add an additional 3/4″ of thickness to our new seat cushion for additional comfort. On top of that, our new seat pad is made right here in the U.S.A.!

We’re excited to announce that we are now offering a brand new thicker molded foam back pad on all of our Steelcase V2 Leap Chairs as well!
Our new thicker back pad is made of high density molded foam, which is slightly different than the dye-cut sheet foam that the OEM V2 Leap back pad uses. It’s much more similar to the back pad on the Steelcase V1 Leap Highback model, which also uses a thicker molded foam back pad. Best of all, just like new seat pad, our new back pad is made right here in the U.S.A. and the original foam pad is sent to our foam supplier to be recycled! Win-Win-Win!!

Leap Adjustable Lumbar:
The Steelcase Leap comes with an optional additional lumbar support, which is a plastic pad that slides between the chair frame and the padded back to provide additional lumbar support that can be adjusted up and down. We include this in our base price on our Leap chairs, as it’s a simple part to remove or re-install if you don’t want it. The video below outlines the removal / re-installation of this lumbar pad:
65mm Carpet casters are best for low-pile or dense carpeted floors. For medium, or longer residential carpets, we recommend 75mm Oversized Carpet Casters to help prevent the bottom of the gas cylinder from dragging on the floor.
Hard floor casters have a soft coating on them, helping them roll smoother and quieter on hard surfaces. This coating also helps protect the flooring from damage. Hard floor casters can also be used on carpeted floors.
We recommend hard floor casters for the following floors:
- Wood / Hardwood Floors
- Concrete / Epoxy
- Laminate
- Tile
- Chair Floor Mats
Oversized (75mm) casters are larger and offer a smoother rolling experience, and also raise the chair up about ~1/2″.
Roller Blade casters offer the smoothest and quietest rolling experience of all, and work great on both carpet or hard floors. Their soft surface also helps protect floors the same as the standard twin-wheel hard floor casters.
Every Crandall Office Remanufactured Steelcase V2 Leap comes standard with a heavy duty gas cylinder rated at 400lbs.
If you need a taller seat height on your chair, we also offer a extended height (stool height) cylinder. Our stool kit includes the same extended height stool cylinder, but also includes a foot ring to rest your feet on when sitting higher up in the air.
Guilford of Maine's Open House line of fabric has been the gold standard for 100% Polyester woven commercial grade seating fabrics, and our go-to standard upholstery fabric since we opened our doors in 2002. Chosen for it's consistent high quality, and high durability rating of 250,000 double rubs, Open House is a great standard fabric that will last.
We're excited to be offering our new proprietary BioKnit fabric on all of our chairs! This unique knitted fabric is significantly softer than most traditional woven fabrics, is made of 100% recycled material, is bleach cleanable, biodegradable, and made in the USA, all without sacrificing durability.
NOTE: BioKnit is not Available on Gestures with Wrap Back or Headrest at this time.
BioKnit is 100% made, dyed, and knitted in Grand Rapids, Michigan! Keeping things local, just the way we like it!
Being a knitted fabric makes BioKnit softer, stretchier, more breathable, while also being made to size to reduce fabric waste significantly.
BioKnit has a Durability Rating of 250,000 Double Rubs; 16.6x the 15,000 required to be considered "Heavy Duty Commercial Grade"
BioKnit has a cleaning code of WS (Water or Solvent Based Cleaners), and is also Bleach Cleanable (9:1 Water:Bleach)
At the end of it's useful life, BioKnit can be recycled or sent to a landfill where it will safely biodegrade in as little as 1,278 days.
BioKnit is constructed of 100% Post-Consumer Recycled polyester, and can also be recycled again at the end of it's useful life.
Made using the same materials and process as our original BioKnit fabric, our 3D BioKnit fabric is a thicker, more breathable version that utilizes two different yarn colors, creating a unique 3 dimensional look to any office chair.

We are now offering full-grain leather as a premium upholstery option. We took a great deal of time to source premium leather, which only come from Europe and New Zealand cattle, and provide a luxurious soft and smooth hand feel. Our leather is ~1mm thick, and has a Wyzenbeek Abrasion Rating of 100,000 double rubs.
We cut and sew every hide to-order, by hand. Because of this, every chair will be slightly unique. We also stitch every hide on every chair to match OEM stitching patterns.
We are also offering a limited selection of real leather with a Microfiber Suede coating. This leather is a split leather from Europe with a Microfiber Suede layer applied to it, providing an extremely unique and soft suede feel, while also providing stain resistance, UV protection, and high wear resistance. If you want a real leather with an extremely soft and durable suede-like feel, this a great option!
Texture Note: Our Micro-Suede Leather has a directionality to it - when you move your hand over the leather, it will change the look of the leather.
Ultrafabrics Brisa Vinyl has set the bar for premium grade polyurethane vinyl. The softness and hand feel of Brisa really needs to be felt to be appreciated - it is genuinely one of the softest, most comfortable materials we've ever upholstered with. What's more, it achieves this while providing one of the most breathable vinyls on the market, and maintaining an extreme Wyzenbeek Abrasion Rating of 300,000 double rubs.
For the first time ever, we are now offering a 100% Natural Wool based upholstery option. Our wool fabric has a two-tone weave that provides a very unique look. As with most natural wool products, this fabric has a more textured/course hand feel than a more traditional polyester based fabric, and is prone to a bit of natural pilling over time.

Disinfecting Guide: Dilute bleach with water at a 9:1 ratio (9 parts water, 1 part bleach), and apply to vinyl. Rinse with clean water several times, and allow to air dry.

All products ship via UPS Ground from our Greenville, Michigan facility. Transit times will vary depending on ship-to location. You will receive tracking information via email when your order has shipped.

V2 Leap Warranty / Return Policy
Remanufactured Steelcase V2 Leap 12 Year Warranty:
All of our remanufactured Steelcase V2 Leap chairs are covered by our industry-leading 12 year warranty under normal usage. All working components are warranted for 12 years against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship.
In the event of a failure, Crandall Office Furniture will send replacement parts with installation instructions – installation labor costs, or tools needed are not covered. In the event of a failure beyond repair, a replacement chair will be sent. This warranty is good up to the stated manufacturer’s weight limits / capacity, which is 400lbs for the Steelcase V2 Leap Chair.
Warranty is null and void if the product is subject to negligence, abuse, misuse, or modification. Warranty only applies to the product; Crandall Office Furniture is not responsible in any way for loss, inconvenience, or any other special damages caused by any defect.
Remanufactured Steelcase V2 Leap Return Policy:
We are confident you will love your chair, but if for any reason you don’t, contact us for a no-hassle free return within 30 days of receiving your chair. We’ll send you a return shipping label and refund your entire purchase price once the chair has been received and inspected.
Returned chairs must be in the same condition as received and returned in the original box. (please keep the box until you’re 100% sure you’re keeping the chair).
Custom fabric chairs, or chairs with significant visible wear or damage, will incur a 15% restocking fee.

I recently purchased a refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 chair from Crandall. The folks at Crandall were happy to answer my questions before I purchased. I ordered the chair on a Friday and ten days later I was sitting in it. It was in perfect condition when I received it, and the features I asked for were included. The upholstery was just as pictured on their website, and in addition I ordered the rollerblade style wheels and heavy duty gas cylinder. One more thing you should know: you have the option to purchase a chair that was manufactured in 2020-2021 for an extra $100, as opposed to one built in 2007-2014. I opted for the newer chair, and I’m glad I did. It is perfect. It is as though it is brand new. No scuffs, marks, or any other obvious imperfections.
The people at Crandall are very nice including one of the guys you might have seen on YouTube. David Crandall, the VP of the company, was personally involved in my purchase, and followed up with an email reminding me that if I had any problems to please contact him. So, in a world of horrible customer service, I found a company that still believes that the customer is always right (even if he really isn’t). And David, thank you. I love the chair.

Chair seems to be mainly good quality, though i did expect the seat pad to be a little more firm considering its supposed to be a new pad and be 3/4″ thicker than what steelcase made for the chair to begin with. So I am concerned that the seat pad wont last as long as a steelcase pad would

We made our seat pad out of the same material, density, and shape as the original OEM pad, we just made it about +3/4″ thicker, so you are correct that it’s not any firmer than the original pad, but there should be no issues with how long it will last, as it’s made out of the same material 🙂
