Our Remanufacturing Process
Our Office Chair Remanufacturing Process
Since 2002, Crandall Office Furniture has grown to become the largest remanufacturer of high-end office seating in the United States. The steps below outlines our 11-step process we have developed over the years to ensure the industry leading quality and repeatability we’re known for.
Every chair that leaves our facility goes through this rigorous process. We believe in what we do here at Crandall Office Furniture, and will continue to update this process as our process evolves to make sure our remanufactured chairs are as close to new as possible!
Don’t trust used, “open box’, or so-called “refurbished” chairs. We provide this much detail about our process to make sure you can do the proper research before you buy. Make sure to do your research!
Step 1
Find & Acquire Used Chairs
We work with large corporations that are environmentally conscience to purchase their used seating, offering them a landfill-free end-of-life solution for their chairs.
Step 2
Receive, Sort, & Inventory Chairs
All chairs are brought to our 34,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Greenville, Michigan where they are counted, sorted, and inventoried in preparation of being remanufactured.
Step 3
Begin Order Fulfillment
Once an environmentally and financially responsible buyer places an order, our team pulls the required chairs from our inventory and stages them in preparation of production.
Step 4
Chair Disassembly
Every chair is completely torn down and disassembled to the core of the chair.
Step 5
Core & Mechanism Inspection
All mechanical components of the chair core are inspected and tested. Any necessary repairs are made to ensure proper functionality of every chair.
Step 6
Steaming & Sterilization Process
Chair seat & back pads are put through our proprietary steaming process. This revitalizes the foam and allows for proper removal of old fabric from the pads. This use of high temperature steam also ensures proper cleaning and sterilization of every cushion.
Step 7
Sewing & Upholstery
Commercial grade seating fabric is patterned and then sewn per OEM specs to fit each chair precisely. Fabric is always applied to bare foam, never over old fabric.
Step 8
Re-Assembly
Each of our remanufactured chairs get new casters, a new gas cylinder, new arm pads, newly upholstered seats & backs are installed, and the final re-assembly process is completed.
Step 9
Final Quality Inspection
Through our entire process, every chair is inspected and tested 3 separate times, by 3 different employees. This final inspection ensures every chair meets our standards and is ready to ship.
Step 10
Shipping
Now completed, chairs are carefully prepared for shipment. Large quantity orders are loaded fully assembled onto a semi-trailer. Smaller quantity orders are partially disassembled and boxed for shipping.
Step 11
Warranty
Because of this refined and time-tested process, we stand by our product with an industry leading 12 year warranty on all of our fully remanufactured chairs.
