We just got in a few hundred very gently used Steelcase Series 1 Office Chairs. These chairs were purchased new from Steelcase in 2018, and were in service for a very short period of time before the office got closed due to COVID, and they were never used again. Because of the very limited amount of use these chairs have, and overall great condition, we are offering these chairs as used as-is chairs, but will still include our 12 year warranty and 30 day free return policy.

What is Used As-Is?
“Used As-Is” chairs are just that – chairs that are sold in used condition without being remanufactured. These chairs will have the original OEM fabrics, seat pad, arm pads, and gas cylinder vs having these components replaced.
As with all used or remanufactured chairs, there can still be some minor scrapes, dings, and scratches expected, but anything with significant wear or damage has been removed from the inventory.
Gas cylinders will be the original cylinder that came with the chair and may show some wear marks from the removal process for shipping, but will be in 100% functional condition and still covered by our 12 year warranty.

65mm Carpet casters are best for low-pile or dense carpeted floors. For medium, or longer residential carpets, we recommend 75mm Oversized Carpet Casters to help prevent the bottom of the gas cylinder from dragging on the floor.
Hard floor casters have a soft coating on them, helping them roll smoother and quieter on hard surfaces. This coating also helps protect the flooring from damage. Hard floor casters can also be used on carpeted floors.
We recommend hard floor casters for the following floors:
- Wood / Hardwood Floors
- Concrete / Epoxy
- Laminate
- Tile
- Chair Floor Mats
Oversized (75mm) casters are larger and offer a smoother rolling experience, and also raise the chair up about ~1/2″.
Roller Blade casters offer the smoothest and quietest rolling experience of all, and work great on both carpet or hard floors. Their soft surface also helps protect floors the same as the standard twin-wheel hard floor casters.
Steelcase Series 1 – 12 Year Warranty:
Despite being sold as used as-is chairs, all of our Steelcase Series 1 chairs come with our full 12 year warranty under normal usage. All working components are warranted for 12 years against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship. In the event of a failure, Crandall Office Furniture will send replacement parts with installation instructions – installation labor costs are not covered. In the event of a failure beyond repair, a replacement chair will be sent. This warranty is good up to the stated manufacturer’s weight limits / capacity, which is 400lbs for the Steelcase Series 1 Chair.
Warranty is null and void if the product is subject to negligence, abuse, misuse, or modification. Warranty only applies to the product; Crandall Office Furniture is not responsible in any way for loss, inconvenience, or any other special damages caused by any defect.
Steelcase Series 1 Return Policy:
We are confident you will love your chair, but if for any reason you don’t, contact us for a no-hassle free return within 30 days of receiving your chair. We’ll send you a return shipping label and refund your entire purchase price once the chair has been received and inspected.
Returned chairs must be in the same condition as received and returned in the original box. (please keep the box until you’re 100% sure you’re keeping the chair).
Custom fabric chairs, or chairs with significant visible wear or damage, will incur a 15% restocking fee.

The chair feels great and looks pretty much new. Pretty easy to assemble as well with the included instructions. I wish the version with a headrest was available, but it’s not essential as I don’t work from home. I unfortunately got my first one stolen or lost by UPS, but Crandall was great about sending a replacement. They did use UPS again and it was supposed to be signature only this time, but UPS just left it at my door again without a signature. I highly recommend making sure someone will be home to accept the package on the day that it arrives.

Saved $200 dollars on a ALMOST flawless chair. I didn’t noticed any signs of wear in the fabric or back rest. Really the only noticeable dings was on the gas lift, which they said would be the case in a youtube video about this chair specifically. I Really like the chair and how easy it was to put together. The instructions really aren’t needed. For $280, it puts the staples hyken to shame. The seat is a little bit on the firmer side, but I find it to be supportive. Not a chair for a tall person but in this instance, luckily I’m short. I didn’t find it comfortable for the first couple of days but I adjusted to it and now I really enjoy it.
The chair looks like it was barley used. The grey material on top was dirty in a few spots but it was cleanable. Can’t tell that it’s used. I will buy my next chair from here. I would recommend the chair and Crandall.
