Crandall Office Furniture’s Herman Miller Aeron aftermarket heavy duty gas cylinders have been constructed to meet original OEM chair specifications and are built to last.
All of our heavy duty gas cylinders are rated Class 4 (Class 4 is the highest class of chair cylinder available).
A office chair gas cylinder is the height adjustment mechanism on the chair. The typical life span of a office chair gas cylinder is 4-7 years, depending on use and abuse. If failed, your chair will be left with limited or no height adjustment, however you can quickly and easily replace your broken Herman Miller Aeron gas cylinder today.
Our Herman Miller Herman Miller Aeron Classic gas cylinders are made to fit all Herman Miller Aeron Classic chairs manufactured before 06-26-2013.
This gas cylinder will not work with the newer remastered style Aeron chair.
If your Aeron Classic chair was manufactured after 06-26-2013, it uses our side activated style cylinder, which can be found here.

The new Gas Cylinder works great. Thanks to the video provided on the website, I knew to adjust the torx screw.

Great replacement for my 2004 Aeron Classic’s failing dual stage cylinder! After I first installed it, I did need to adjust the set screw. I also noticed it was sticking a lot, but it just took about a week of light-medium usage off and on, at various height levels to break it in. After about a week, it is working perfectly!
My only minor issue I have run into is that the plastic ring that goes around the cylinder likes to pop out, unsure if that’s because it’s old and warped, or if the new cylinder is thicker than before.
Either way, if you want for sure a great cylinder without taking the cheaper risk on amazon or ebay, grab this one, it’ll for sure be good enough.

Replacing the gas cylinder on my Herman Miller Aeron chair. Helped me find the right part, provided the video for easy install. Reasonably priced and quick delivery.

The new cylinder works just like it should. It’s a one stage cylinder instead of the original two stage. The plastic ring that goes around the cylinder likes to pop out but fixed it by wrapping a piece of electric tape around the ring with the tabs then forcing the ring back into the base. You don’t see the tape and the ring never popped back out.

I bought a 20 year old Aeron, I used Crandall’s videos to take it all apart and clean it. Luckily it was in great condition – but the cylinder was not the best. I waited a few months to move forward with it because it did work. After the change I can feel a HUGE difference already. Easy to change, and makes a world of a difference. Great product from a great company!

Just got this and installed it on my 2001 Classic Aeron. Took a slight adjustment to the set screw but other than that installation was easy and my chair sits like new again.
The videos these guys supply help SO much. I’ll be ordering some more replacement parts from them in the future.
Thanks guys!

I wanted to be sure before reviewing this thing, but it’s been a perfect replacement for my classic Aeron chair. The reason for my shell shock is that I originally tried one of those $30 replacements on Amazon. The first one survived only a few months. Then they sent me a new one ‘to try’. It lasted 3 days. In all, I think they sent me 5 or 6 replacements. Great customer service, but those cheap cylinders weren’t worth the time (except that I became a Set Screw adjustment expert). After that, they recommended Crandall and another place on the east coast. I’d been watching the Crandall install videos, so I gave this cylinder a try. Boom, solid. And it’s been solid ever since. There’s not much else to say, which is indeed perfect.
