Crandall Office Furniture’s Steelcase 462 Leap V2 aftermarket side activated stool gas cylinders have been constructed to meet original OEM chair specifications and are built to last.
A office chair gas cylinder is the height adjustment mechanism on the chair. The typical life span of a office chair gas cylinder is 4-7 years, depending on use and abuse. If failed, your chair will be left with limited or no height adjustment, however you can quickly and easily replace your broken Steelcase 462 Leap V2 stool gas cylinder today.
Our Steelcase 462 Leap V2 gas cylinders are made to fit all Steelcase 462 Leap V2 chairs using the side activated style gas cylinder – Manufactured after 01-19-2009.
This cylinder can successfully be used on a standard Steelcase 462 Leap V2 chair, to convert it to stool height, standing desk, sit-to-stand desk, or bar height. Also available is our full stool conversion kit (including foot ring) for the Steelcase 462 Leap V2 chair.

Very solid, and much taller than the stock cylinder. Can take it down to a good sitting position or raise it to the top and use my office chair for a high chair. 🙂

Cylinder works perfectly, but be careful measuring–this is not a good replacement for the standard-length cylinder unless you’re very tall.
It’s only a little longer than the original standard-length cylinder on paper, but it sits higher in the base. I’m 5’10” and this one is too tall for me with the post all the way down.
