A office chair gas cylinder is the height adjustment mechanism on the chair. The typical life span of a office chair gas cylinder is 4-7 years, depending on use and abuse. If failed, your chair will be left with limited or no height adjustment, however you can quickly and easily replace your broken Herman Miller Aeron stool gas cylinder today.
Our Herman Miller Aeron Classic gas cylinders are made to fit all Herman Miller Aeron Classic chairs manufactured before 06-26-2013.
This gas cylinder will not work with the newer remastered style Aeron chair.
If your Aeron classic chair was manufactured after 06-26-2013, it uses our side activated Aeron stool cylinder, which can be found here.

This cylinder can successfully be used on a standard Herman Miller Aeron chair, to convert it to stool height, standing desk, sit-to-stand desk, or bar height. Also available is our full stool conversion kit (including foot ring) for the Herman Miller Aeron chair.

Well, as your colleagues that I talked to know, I’m in Switzerland and I had to find a workaround to order this item that I haven’t found here.
I haven’t received the parcel yet and can only be disappointed by all the trouble and double the price because of double shipping. I also had to sacrifice buying the footrest for these reasons.
I understand that you wouldn’t ship an entire chair to Europe, but please consider opening up for smaller articles.
Now I need to figure out how to install this, because I don’t have the tooling. Meanwhile, I saw that one of your competitors have developed a tool to gently pry the cylinder out of the chair without yanking it with a gigantic pipe wrench that nobody has. They only sell it with a cylinder and, like you, not to Europe. *sigh*
I don’t feel very positive by this experience, but your colleague was very helpful in my early emails for identifying if my Aeron was compatible.
